Who is Raum?
In short, Raum is the owner and creator of Ivalice. He is the only person who has ever, and will ever, code for the game. He started Ivalice in approximately 1993-1994 as a project to understand the (then) complex language of C Programming.
Outside Ivalice
Raum is a native Las Vegan and a business owner, running an online/special event jewelry store, [Drunken Dragon Designs]. He's been married for almost a decade and has two children, 6 and 2 years old.

Current Description
A tall man, standing well over 6 feet, Raum's eyes burn brightly, blazing through even the darkest of nights, causing a chill to run down the spine of most anyone who dared to look. Clad in a dark black plate armor, accented with a near blood red cloak and sash, the recent turn of events towards his abandonment of Chaos are near apparent. He no longer bears any mark of Chaos - even the Brand of Unholy is gone. In it's place is a new will and driving force. Long black hair falls from his head, flailing wildly with the slightest of movements like an untamed beast. A mouth full of razor sharp teeth look as though they could rip anything to shreds with ease, however the aura of evil he once carried has vanished leaving a unbound force where it stood.

Raum was born into the militant forces of Castle Baron. His father was in the Elite Dragoon squadron and his mother was a general in the King's Fleet of Airships. The young boy grew up learning about the world not by being in it, but through only the training in Baron's Battle Corps. He watched many battles and participated in even more. By the age of 14, Raum had made more victories for the Baron Empire than any other soldier in their fighting forces. He quickly rose in rank, soon replacing his very own father in the Elite Force.
Raum assisted the King and his Generals in many tasks, including a Dark Knight by confiscating the Air Crystal from the castle of Damcyan and the Fire Crystal from Eblan Keep. Shortly after this, a powerful force appeared in the land that people called 'Weapon'. When asking the king permission to engage the creature failed, he set out towards Crescent Lake, where a circle of twelve sages, head by Lukhan, had made residence.
The sages, it was said, had the power to grant a True Hero the ability to defeat any foe. That seemed to be the Realm's only hope - for Raum to attain this power and destroy Weapon. But the Sages said the Dragoon's soul was not pure enough - that the power they could give might be misused.
What did they know?
Fearing the worst for the land, Raum fled back to Baron to find it already destroyed by Weapon and in ruin. Consumed with rage for his lost homeland, he called forth all his power to do the one thing left to save his land the Sages would not grant the power to destroy, but there was one being that could. 'HE' would give the power 'HE' would give the ability to destroy.
Raum called forth the Demon Chaos.
Seeing the advantage of 'owning' such a powerful Dragoon, Chaos agreed - the Power to defeat Weapon in exchange for his Soul. He could see no other way. Chaos made Raum into the most powerful Immortal Ivalice ever knew, second only to the Demon himself. With ease, the new God annihilated Weapon. Yes, the land was now saved, but at what cost? Chaos now controlled the strongest force in all the land. Raum was made to destroy, first, the Sages of Crescent Lake. Then he quickly rose to be the Ruler of Ivalice.
No one since has challenged him to rule for fear of their life.
