Attributes are seperated into two types. 'Main' attributes, and 'Sub' attributes. A list of both is provided below, with a brief description of what they do.

Main Attributes

The 'Main' attributes are as follows. These attributes will have the largest amount of impact on a character's strength and weaknesses.

Strength - Physical Power

Strength is the might of warriors. It governs many skills that fall within the warrior's realms. These skills include but are not limited to Slash, Tech, and the various rage abilities. This attribute also governs round based auto-melee combat when using a weapon.

Strength, in addition to playing a large part in the life of a warrior, will also impact the Subattribute Brave. Every 10 strength will add 1 point to brave. It also determines how much weight a character can carry on them.

Magic- Magical power and Longivity

Magic is the lifeblood of magic users. Magic has a profound impact on magic and magical abilities. It effects things such as the spell abilities (cast, empower, utter) as well as magical skills such as call and lore.

Magic also effects the sub attribute Faith and Mana. Every 10 Magic = 1 Faith. It also effects mana, translating roughly to 1 Magic = 10 Mana

Spirit- Magical Defense and Resistance

Spirit often represents the depth of a person's soul. In Ivalice, a strong spirit is resiliant against the forces of magic. Individuals that have high spirit typically present themselves as extremely determined. It also governs some abilities such as a Mystic's Kai, and a Ninja's Blitz.

Speed- Accuracy and Evasion

Speed is the forte of the stealthy and the deadly. Speed measures the quickness of a character and, to some degree, their agility. It impacts a character's ability to evade attacks by increasing their AC(1 speed = 1 AC). It also determines the number of items you can have on your character. Characters with high speed have a chance of recieving extra attacks in combat due to their intense speed, which is particularly useful for Sword Knights, Thieves and Ninja.

Stamina- Physical Longivity

Stamina often represents the physical wellbeing of a character. It often manifests itself as largeness. Often times, the more stamina a character has, the 'bigger', or more robust they are. However, this does not always hold true, as stamina may even be presented as a particularly stubborn or determined personality. Stamina's only function is to impact and determine a character's maximum HP.

Luck- Attunement to the Universe

Luck is best described as 'favor' from the forces that govern Ivalice. This does not entirely mean the favor of a diety, but the unseen, seemingly unguided strings that manipulate the world. Most characters have the same amount of favor as another character with a particular exception for Gamblers. Luck may impact very well everything you do, however it has been witnessed to impact the power of a Gambler's gamble skills, as well as promote critical strikes in combat.

The Sub Attributes

Evade

Evade is the 'raw' ability to completely avoid a melee round based attack. Its maximum is strictly set at 15%, which permits a 15% chance to completely avoid an incoming melee attack. This 15% chance applies to all round-based melee attacks, and is consistant regardless of AC, other supporting skills, and the attacker's hitroll.

Magical Resistance

Magical resistance is the magical counterpart of evade. It has a maximum of 15%, and allows for a character to resist the effects of a spell, completely negating any damage or malicious status involved. This only impacts offensive spells and will not effect beneficial spells such as cure, sanctuary, or haste.

Mana

Mana, or MP, is the attribute of a character that defines how much, or how little, they may use special abilities. Many abilities will consume mana, and when mana is depleted, no mana-requiring moves can be used. These include, but are not limited to, blitz, call and cast/empower/utter. Every point in the Magic stat increases a character's MP by 10 points.

Hit Points

Hit Points, or HP, are a numerical representation of a character's life force. Most attacks will lower this in one form or another, and once it reaches zero, the character will find themselves being resurrected by Rosa, Coneria's ever vigilant White Mage, after having suffered a potentially agonizing demise. Every point in stamina will raise this by 10 points.

Armor/AC

Hitroll

This affects how accurate a character's melee hits are. A high hitroll reduces the chances of a missed attack, though skills like dodge and parry will still be effective.

Brave

Brave increases a character's physical damage. A high Brave stat will produce deadly results on a trained warrior, though even those with weak melee abilities can find benefits through increased Brave. Every 10 points in Strength will increase a character's Brave by one point.

Faith

Faith increases the effectiveness of a character's magical abilities, enabling a mage to unleash devastating attacks or heal the gravest of injuries. Every 10 points in the Magic stat increases a character's Faith by one point.
