Inside Ivalice
Nai is also known as Anatsol, although most call him Nai regardless of which persona he is on. He has played Ivalice for a number of years. He also hosts www.BlameNai.com, a website dedicated to a long running inside joke within Ivalice. The website itself features basic information about him and his wife, and show cases her artwork.
Outside Ivalice
Nai works for a technical support department in a large communications company and provides support to an area that houses nearly 1,000,000 customers. He was born in Georgia, raised and educated in Alabama, and now currently lives and works in Delaware. In 2004, he moved away from Alabama to live with his then fiancee in Delaware, Kat. His educational background doesn't extend far beyond High School with vocational studies in computer sciences, manufacturing, and journalism in addition to the job related training he has received from his workplaces, both current and past. He also has a keen interest in physics and astronomy, although lacks the higher levels of education around both subjects.
One of Nai's biggest passions is, as his field of work suggests, technology and computers. He is particularly interested in programming languages. Video games also interest him, particularly of the roleplaying, action and puzzle genres. His favorite music genre is rock/alternative. He also collects decorative glass bottles and stuffed cows, although the reasons for either are unknown even to him.

The Legend
Nai Driftlin, the Blade Caller, is surrounded in myths and legends. Despite his humble origins, he has made a name for himself as both an epic hero and ruiner. He has made many names for himself, among them: The Dragonbane of Baron, The Iron Cleaver of Eblan, 'He of Burning Eyes', and most recently, The Scourge of Ivalice. His name and reputation often preceed him by leaps and bounds, and his apperance has been captured many times by artists and scattered throughout the realm. Many regard him as a walking force of nature, maddened by power and grief.
There are dozens of stories of both heroism and misdeeds revolving around Nai Driftlin. Oddly enough, many of these exploits seem to conclude with his utter demise. Some, often exaggerated tales, describe Nai as a minion of the undead, bound to the world by dark and corrupted magics. Less exaggerated claims explain away these rumors by stating that Nai Driftlin is, in truth, several people, or a single person who has gotten himself out of trouble and trial time after time. The truth is uncertain.
Class: Blade Caller
This is not a true class of Ivalice, but a self-proclaimed class of Nai. The Blade Caller is merely a caller who is adept with bladed weapons aside from the traditional dagger. These include axe, sword, and katana weapon types. This 'class' is actually a normal Caller with a whotitle change.
The Man
Documentation on the history and life of Nai Driftlin is scarce. The truth about the Blade Caller is obscured by a veil of mystery. It is rumored that a complete, or near complete chornicle of his life that was written by the man himself in the early days of his madness. This book is refered to as the Book of the Burning Eye, and has exchanged hands several times. It is believed that there are several manuscripts of the book in the hands of various wealthy collectors, but the original book was finally retrieved by its author. Its present location is unknown, but it is assumed that the Blade Caller destroyed it soon after reclaiming it.
Recent Vectornarian reports claim the Blade Caller's final demise in a fatal airship crash. Remains of Nai Driftlin were allegedly found at the crash site of a Vector flagged airship, but only the announcement of his alleged demise has been made public.
History
Nai Driftlin roots have not been completely obscured by his actions. The story of his birth was a local omen in the Village of Mist, and his actions in his later life only reinforce the primitive belief. The union of the called and the caller within the Village of Mist gave way to a child bearing a terrible curse, the Mark of Corruption. Unfortunately, child birth proved to be fatal for his mother. His father held upon high the child and begged the gods of old to strip him of the curse. With his prayers unanswered, his father summoned his magical wrath and, with the power of a long forgotten synthesis, sealed the curse upon his son.
However, the seal also broke apart Nai Driftlin's soul, seperating the corruption from what was still pure. The actions of his father had spared the world of the Mark of Corruption, but had resulted in their expulsion from society. Nai had been spared explusion under the condition that he would never know his origin.
Young Childhood
Childhood was a kind thing to Nai. He was raised amongst the children of Mist, oblivious to the truth of his condition. A mild fascination with the glory of heroes as a child suspected to be the origin of his later actions in his years as a young adult, but explicit details in regards to his upbringing and education were never made available in a material sense. Few individuals knew the extent of the events that happened at his birth, but it was openly believed that he was a curse, or an omen of some sort.
The village of Mist reluctantly tutored Nai in their understanding of illusionary beasts, leading him to be a fairly mediocre Caller in his teenage years.
Teenage Years
The years as a teenager were fairly unkind to the Blade Caller. As young boys started becoming young men, the most defining characteristic of Nai Driftlin began to expose itself. The Blade Caller developed more as a woman than as a man. While he lacked the basic 'details' of a female, his body sculpted more into that belonging to a woman. That, acompanied with his preference to wearing long hair made most of his teenage years troubled.
The gender confusion ultimately became nothing more than a joke to the young Nai Driftlin, although many situations were worsened by his appearance alone. Acceptance came from a collection of individuals who unfortunately dispersed shortly after him attending their ranks. His condition, however, did not discourage him from seeking out his early goal.
In these years, Nai wanted nothing more to be a hero, for the sake of that alone. The glory and admiration associated with being a hero drove him to better himself so that one day he too would share that with the many heroes that had come before him. This blind ambition more often got him involved with dangerous things than it helped his reputation. This same ambition sparked the major turning point of his life as a young adult.
Adulthood
Following the disappearance of one of Ivalice's most influential adventurers, Nai dedicated himself to uncovering the mysteries of the world. However, around the same time, a mysterious device of extrodinary power had found itself in the hands of mortals. This device, a simple black box adorned with a large ruby, was the very same mechanism that held back the Mark of Corruption and the fragment of Nai's soul.
Years of endless exposure to the Mark of Corruption completely blackened this fragment and eventually formed a twisted anti-ego of the Blade Caller. The careless actions of the mortals possessing the mechanism eventually shattered the vessle, unleashing what had been sealed over for two decades.
It is a mystery of how the two parts were reunited, but the end result had changed the Blade Caller forever. As time progressed, his dedicated to his new found goal intensified to extreme levels, developing ultimately into a psychotic obsession. As his sickness of the soul spread, it is said that Nai Driftlin experienced terrifying episodes of schizophrenia and hallucenated vivid scenes of burning entities ranging from cities and kingdoms to individuals such as people or animals. These episodes were documented in the diary of the Blade Caller, titled 'The Book of Burning Eyes'. The symbol of the burning eye has henceforth been used to represent Nai Driftlin.
Since these events, the Blade Caller has forcefully involved himself in the ordeals of others, frequently betraying, maiming and for those fortunate enough, outright killed. Most noted of these actions were those placed against the Radical Dreamers and the Kingdom of Coneria.
Involvement with the Radical Dreamers
The disappearance of the head of the Radical Dreamers, an individual known to be admired by the Blade Caller, sparked a deadly war between he, the Templar Knights, and the Radical Dreamers. Upon discovery of the suspected death of the Radical Dreamers leader, the Blade Caller went berserk, turning completely against all those who had aligned themselves with him. The record of the struggle between him and the crew of the Starlight, once run and operated by the Radical Dreamers, was brief but ended in a hellstorm of explosions. The Starlight was entirely destroyed, killing many of its passengers and destroying all of the magical research that the Radical Dreamers took part in.
