Mana

Mana is the lifeblood of Ivalice, and is in each and every creature in the world. Mana is the source of all magic, and for any magic to exist there must also be Mana. This is one of the two 'vital' attirubtes of Ivalice and will reflect a character's ability to cast spells, use special abilities and preform other special functions.

This attribute is directly governed by the magic attribute and a character's class. The more likely it is for a class to use magic or magic-like abilities, the more mana they are likely to have.

There are a few ways to replenish mana in the world of Ivalice. The easiest and most common way is to drink something. Most drinkable fluid will contain a source of mana to replenish exhausted resources. While some fluids, like water from fountains, will have no effect, there are refined beverages that will provide more.

Another way to replenish mana is to wait for the natural course of regeneration. When a character rests or sleep, they will regenerate more mana than they would while standing. In relaxed states, a character can more easily recover mana. The skills meditation and deep meditation will further increase the recovery rates of mana due to time based regeneration.

Some classes also have the ability to restore another's, or even their own, mana.
