Corel Mako Reactor

From IvaPedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The Mount Corel Mako reactor has been deactivated for ages upon ages, but the damage done to the land and the creatures still lingers and grows. The only way to access this abandoned reactor is to attempt to scale down the side of Mount Corel, as all other known and recorded routes have been destroyed. The energy left behind from years of use have inflicted and still present a danger of inflicting the condition known as 'Mako Poisoning'.

Being that both Mount Corel and the Mount Corel Reactor are extremely dangerous, travel there is not advised at all. However, the promise of uncovering old technology and forgotten treasures lures the powerhungry and greedy without fail.

Area Challenges

This area presents a series of unusual challenges. Not only are many of the creatures here prone to attacking without notice, the layout is hazardous and littered with traps.

The Mako Chambers

There are chambers along one of the hallways in the reactor. They may be opened, but it is most certain some terrible beast is locked inside. Open these with care, for you never know what you may release from it.

The Catwalk

The catwalk is particularly dangerous, being that it is suspended over the very life stream that sustains Ivalice. One false step, and it's all over for you and your party. On top of that, there are fiends who casually linger along the catwalk, dazed by the glow and energy from the life stream.

Boss: The Mako Reactor Security System

  • Level: 525
  • Class: Monster
  • Challenge: Extreme
  • Notes:

The Mako Reactor Security System is easily the largest threat of the area. While it is entirely stationary, it presents a particularly tough challenge to single adventurers. Do not expect to survive an encounter with this boss if you adventure alone. It has several moving parts that, if left unattended, will quickly decimate an entire party. Only with well timed strategy and an even better balanced team can ever hope to take this boss down.

Another noteworthy piece of information about this boss, it is particularly hardy considering its intended level. The boss can take payload after payload of damage and not shift much in HP count. If one were to 'break' certain parts of it, more damage could be easily inflicted. However, the advanced technology that constructed this efficent system also allows for it to repair itself, making the struggle against this boss very challenging.

Sub Boss: An Oversoul Reactor Fiend

Level: ????

Class: Mystic

Challenge: Moderate

Race: ?????

Notes:

This sub boss is nothing special compared to the main boss. It is particularly resistant to many damage types, and is capable of dealing more damage than any of the other creatures within this area, it is by no means impossible to defeat. Compared to its normal cousins, it is a real pain, and is capable of striking everyone in your party.

Enemies

A Reactor Fiend

Level: ????

Challenge: Medium to Moderate

Class: ????

Race: Human(?)

Notes:

Reactor fiends arn't particularly dangerous for a warrior, but can present certain problems for spellcasters. Encountering them can be extremely dangerous, as they have the chance of turning into an Oversouled fiend, which can completely change the flow of combat. They will attack anything, and anyone, on sight.

A Mako Poisoned Bomb

Level: ????

Challenge: Medium

Class: Monster

Race: Bomb

Notes:

These fiendish bombs have fallen from Mount Corel and into the Reactor wastes. The mako poisoning have made them much stronger than their elevated cousins, but less likely to combust. They litter the entrance of the Reactor, sinking their burning teeth into anything that gets close enough.

A Mako Poisoned Soldier

Level: ????

Challenge: Small

Class: Sword Knight

Race: Human

Notes:

This poor human managed to fall to the poison of Mako. Now they aimlessly wander the outskirts of the reactor, nothing more than mindless fiends.

A Mako Poisoned Dragon

Level: ????

Challenge: Medium

Class: Monster

Race: Dragon

Notes:

This dragon must've either been born here, or it mutated into a dragon from something else. It is particularly resistant to the effects of the Mako, but its breath is laced with poison as a result. These dangerous creatures can make short work of the inexperienced adventurers, be they alone or in a party.

A Mako Enhanced Warrior

Level: ????

Challenge: Medium to Moderate

Class: ????

Race: Human

Notes:

This warrior, instead of being poisoned by the Mako of the reactor, is instead mindlessly enthralled and empowered by it. They are particularly dangerous and impossible to avoid as they lay in wait to ambush adventurers or wandering monsters foolish enough to find them. Their expert skills allow them to target multiple enemies at once, meaning without the proper caution, these experts will deliver a crippling blow to your party. They are also particularly hardy against most forms of attack, making them a struggle to fight. They will attack anyone instantly, and without restraint.

A Mako Reactor Alarm

Level: ????

Challenge: Non-existant.

Class: ????

Race: Robot

Notes:

These tiny robots will sound out an alarm that has lost its function over the years. By themselves, they are harmless and can be dispatched quickly by either spell caster or warrior. Something still remains of their program, though, as a mysterious sound of a booting computer can be heard as they are passed.
